Emotions

morning full of emotions, this one. After a troubled night, I managed to get to sleep at dawn, when I was awakened with a start at 8:20 am by a scream of surprise. My wife, who usually pays little attention to these kinds of spectacles of nature, had launched that cry of amazement: "Come see the Monte Rosa," he said .
In fact, with its luminescent white color white seems to dominate the foothills front, which are rather dark gray / black. In fact, since 9 December last year, I had not seen the Monte Rosa in the luminous beauty ( see here). The two pictures above and below, taken this morning at 9.45 they give an idea.
The morning continued with other emotions: those who gave me Channel 5, with the transmission of 8.5o Saturday : the gallery. As previously reported
Sarcastycon friend, my operations awakening, dressing, and got out of bed, because of my known and no longer celabile "affliction", lasting from half an hour to an average ' hours, depending on the day, as my own, like that of other Italians is 56000 a disease of the intermittent nature in the sense that there are days that you c oncede some additional force to make you do in less time what usually takes the "patience of Job." The transmission on Saturday, the gallery, I have great company during these operations, because his presence makes me less weigh the ailment. A praise, then, the inventor and host of the Vittorio Testa, who in my friend, Peter , disabled, one of his greatest admirers. He is an excellent house, he knows by heart the lyrics and music of at least ten works (but came to know many more). E 'living encyclopedia: just ask him how does tal'aria, and he now sings the . has them all memorized during the long and regular stays in hospital. The lyric, as it often tells me, was his salvation, after a car accident, that the fault of others, had reduced to a deep coma for seven days and a half. The lyric restored his "will to live", more than ever, more than when he was spry and athletic, a desire to live the life that is beautiful regardless " whatever the condition of living " are the words that I often repeated . Everything he has also found in the lyric , which is why the program follows to the letter (and then every time I made a sort of questioning). When you can not see him live if he does register, not knowing that now, through internet, Mediaset provides the opportunity to review them when you want.
speak enthusiastically of the program the gallery today, because this morning led me to two places that are now part of my experience: Venice and Arona, and led me to explore two significant events for me: The Barber of Seville, the Phoenix of Venice and the exhibition dedicated to De Chirico , to Arona.
of Arona, in particular, I write today, as I speak of the Monte Rosa, because it is located almost halfway in a straight line between me and the Monte Rosa, it seems almost beyond that of the bell tower is barely visible from the photo (click above for larger view). Arona is an ongoing exhibition on Giorgio de Chirico , main exponent of the ar tistical of metaphysical painting.
At the exhibition, being held to Bridges Villa Arona, until 28 March, are on display 130 masterpieces of majesty . The cover of the catalog, Vittorio Testa kept jealously under his arm during the transmission of the gallery, as he spoke of mostra, raffigura una delle tante piazze italiane dipinte da De Chirico, nello stile metafisico . Dipinta negli anni trenta, ora di proprietà privata, costituisce la cover of one of his most well-made products, dating back to the '80s, when the painter was still vital work.

top it all: the lyric. Transmitted by
La Fenice of Venice, The Barber of Seville is the work that perhaps most of all contributed to my passion for opera. The famous aria of Figaro , contested and required by all, has now masterfully sung the baritone Christian Senn . When I was little I heard her sing but often by my uncle, who, had it not been for his innate shyness, would now be counted among the great interpreters of Italian opera.

is dying for an apple. Memories from the camp of Titus.

Io ero nato e vissuto a Monfalcone. Campi in which ended up not only the 'fascists' of CSR, not just the police or the police, but also civilians, partisans, anyone with an Italian surname. "What has happened to me and many others - says Rossi Kobau - I have now put in writing. Every time I found a piece of paper I took notes. But then for years I did not even dare to think. I turned everything in a book only in 2001 (Prisoner of Tito 1945-1946, Murcia, € 12.40, ed.) First few people would have liked to hear my story. And besides, I think back produced a great suffering for years I've preferred not to look back ...». And listening to his story, this desire is more than understandable. "My battalion surrendered to Tito April 30, 1945. They promised us the honor of arms and a quick return. We believed: we work in the valley of the Bacchus, where the Slovene population had established more than cordial relations despite the need to struggle with the partisans, who were often their relatives. But by May 3 we realized we were wrong. Led us to Tolmin, where brutal interrogations began. What you could do was just try to choose the row that led to the room screaming when I felt less ... They tried to make us confess something, anything ... But they were not the Slovenians with which we had to do to behave well. Indeed, many people came from the Valley of the Bacchus to take us to eat.

absence of any allegations of the supporters who came from outside had to come up with something, anything. And so they killed at random, and took 89 of us. Part of them hanged, some of them threw a foiba, blew up with them in the ...». But even for survivors began an odyssey tremendous. "We were brought to the field of Borovnica and left to starve. In a few days we ate all the grass ... When in the field there was nothing left of the green some people began to stretch his hands out of the pen, the kids who were on the turrets were firing on ... It falls upon us to take the corpses and throw them nelle latrine o nei canali vicini al campo...».

I bersaglieri che invece vennero uccisi e infoibati vicino a Tolmino quelli could be traced. I'm trying since 2006 thanks to the help of some residents. But the Slovenian authorities give formal support and very little substance. They just say, you tell us where to dig and dig us. As for the Italian Commissioner-General for the honors to the fallen of war, its leaders often change and this makes work intermittently and until now unsuccessful. And I become even older and more tired ... In 2008 I made to accompany my son to Tolmin (the famous comedian Paolo Rossi, ed.) We have different political ideas, but this story has always helped me. When he saw the country told me: "It's full of tourists who go fishing, seems to Switzerland, I do not want to remember that past, I do not want a memorial. Maybe not even for their ...". I'm afraid I was right, although I do not want to give up. "

February 10 Memorial Day

among the children of the exodus is also Marchionne
Fausto Biloslavo

Fiat manager's mother forced to abandon his country after a series of tragic bullying. Ethnic cleansing was started in 1943. And the family was hard hit

Zucconi - 'Sergio I remember as a child when I was helping to feed the cattle. Grandfather has never known, because it was infoibato by Tito's partisans. With his mother, Mary, are always linked. I felt the last time Jan. 17, when he became 84 years old, to wish. With her sister Anna went into exile in Canada, but we were never forgotten. " He speaks in the Venetian dialect, Maria Zuccon, the aunt of Sergio Marchionne, CEO of Fiat. He knew of its origins in Abruzzi and life as a teenager in Canada, but also flows in the veins of blood Istrian super manager. Not only the family's maternal Marchionne has tried on her skin and the tragedy of foibe exodus.

Only a brother, Martin, if they have not gone after the war by marrying Mary, who welcomed us to "Fogoler 'of a typical Istrian house. "Sergio's mother is also called Maria and she was born in this house" says the aunt of the super manager. Blue eyes, silver hair and shawl over her shoulders, she has remained Zucconi, as in the Italian village of few houses taken from the family .. "Once we were a hundred, but now we are up to 40" sighs Mrs. Mary. At a few kilometers from Pula, the whole area with a strong Italian presence until the postwar period has been emptied by the exodus. Prior to that, because of the armistice of 1943, guerrilla bands have made the dress rehearsal for the ethnic cleansing. And the family's maternal Marchionne has come under the scrutiny.

"James, the grandfather of Sergio, was a hard worker. A Krnica, three miles from here, had set up shop under the house "said Aunt Mary. "He never hurt anyone," insists the woman, born in 1925. In Fascist who wanted commercial license would automatically join the Fascist Party. Marchionne's aunt again, however, "that James never wore the black shirt." On September 8, 1943, the royal army disbanded. In Istria you create a dangerous power vacuum. Tito's partisans emerge from the woods and pick up their "enemies of the people."

"They went home at night, tying her wrists with wire. In the country have taken six. An engineer, he had done only good, but also the butcher - said the witness -. In the band there was an ideological communist leader, but in fact those who had debts the shop of James took the opportunity to kill him. "

Hostages disappear into thin air. "Anna's sister Mary, who is now with her in Canada, gave no peace. He wanted to save his dad. Someone had seen them taken away in single file, "says Mary. His brother Joseph, had just returned home after the turnaround of 8 September, was also launched in searches. Unfortunately it ended up in a sweep of the Germans, who were regaining Istria with iron and fire. Mistaken for a partisan or a deserter from the past to have weapons.

"But Anna has not won to date. The father, with others, had been thrown into the cave of Trlji, five miles from this house. She went to Pola and convinced the firemen to recover the bodies, "explains Aunt Mary. "On the Brink of foiba, when they pulled out the bodies swollen Anna said he is not, is not he ... - Remember the lady Zuccon -. Then he got a start in front of a body beyond recognition. This is my father. He recognized from the buttons of his jacket which she had made. "

The maternal grandfather of Sergio Marchionne ended in foiba but Istria not only brought misfortune. His parents met just Krnica. Conception The father was serving in police station. Mother Maria was immediately in love with the young uniformed Abruzzo. Conception was transferred first in Slovenia and then in Gorizia "to" defend "the border invasion Communist "writes Mark Gregory Black Man's sweater, a book of success on the AD Fiat. The future wife is from her husband's relatives in Italy escaped the ethnic cleansing of Tito. His sister Anna would like to reach. At the end of the Second World War, the situation worsened. Tito I left to take up the ethnic cleansing in mid 1943. In the face of violence, 350 thousand Italians in Istria, Fiume and Dalmatia to escape their homeland. "One day, Anna took her bike, with only two bags in hand. She went to Pola to embark on the last steamer for Italy, "she says with emotion Aunt Mary.

Sergio's parents marry after the war and go to live in Chieti in 1952 where he was born the future super manager. The exile Zuccon Anna is the first in Canada, followed by family Marchionne, who wants to give more consideration to the child. In Istria are uncles Martin and Mary. "They came to see me for the first time after the war when Sergio was 3. There was no light or running water. Sergio in the lavavamo "Mastel" with water from the tank with my children, "says Mary, smiling. The young Marchionne has fun during the holidays in Istria. "I helped to bring the cattle. He liked to use the whip to direct it and would not let go even when he went to sleep. For more great I always said if you keep up the good work aunt camps will end at the cemetery. "

From Fiat do know that the CEO "as a child often heard stories of her mother and aunt of refugees from Istria. In the book Gregory, a cousin Abruzzo noted that on the wrist of his unique sweater Marchionne became a small crest embroidered flag. With the rise of Marchionne ties with relatives who remained in Istria are rare, but not deleted. "Sergio has also come from Switzerland with his wife and two children to let us know," says Maria. "Now I see him on television. They say he is a manager of the world's largest - said Aunt Mary -. But for me the boy will remain with the features of the mother. Sergio is a simple person and I hold dear in my heart forever. "

THE DAY OF THE February 10

The commemoration of the February 10 reminds one of the greatest tragedies ever Italian, Foibe and that of the Exodus from Dalmatia and from Venezia Giulia, the killing of 30,000 Italians, the expulsion of 350,000 others, and another 50,000 still confined in Yugoslav gulag. All this happened at the hands of Slav-communist Tito, with the active cooperation of the Italian Communists ol'ignavia PCI.
The date chosen is that of Peace Treaty of Paris, which in 1947 marked the loss of the Italian territories of Dalmatia, Fiume, Istria, Kvarner
The sinkholes have represented a genuine ethnic cleansing designed with lucidity and with great anticipation by the Belgrade government, by its dictator, "Marshal Tito, his Foreign Minister, Kardelj, and another minister and a personal friend of Tito, Vasa Cubrilovic, authors of two real manuals that contained instructions to carry out genocide against the population "etnodiverse" in the socialist state of Yugoslavia.
invasion of Italian soil, and the subsequent genocide, were favored by the Italian communists. The partisan brigade "Osoppo", consisting of partisans "white" Catholics and favorable to the defense of national borders from invasion, was cut off by treachery and deceit by communist partisans. Togliatti and the PCI agreed with Tito for the sale of all Italian lands until Tagliamento, in obedience to orders of Stalin and certainly aspire to extend as much as possible the domain of "real socialism". The anti-fascist Italian Communists were not excluded from the PCI, then killed by the first Slavic communists. The PCI then orchestrated a press campaign against the exiles, and defended in any way in parliament and in the international interest and the territorial ambitions of the dictator Tito.
Foibe The Italians were victims of any political idea, of all social classes, all ages: fascists and anti-fascists, rich and poor, religious and atheists, men and women, old people, adults and children. The Italians, after suffering serious abuse (humiliation, beatings, rapes, castrations, pregnant women were ripped open their bellies and fetuses were strung as trophies on poles) were tied with barbed wire to each other, and lined up. The leader was then placed at the mouth of a foiba then was shot or thrown in the air, carrying with it the other related to him. The ritual was often completed by a black dog thrown in foiba still alive, in compliance with a superstition of Balkan folklore, that it would have prevented the victims to "return" to take revenge.
A complete and exact calculation of the number of victims is impossible because many bodies were thrown into the sea or buried in ravines remained unknown, or remained in Yugoslavia in the cemeteries of the gulag. However, the more likely figure is around 30,000. This amount can be obtained from the number of inhabitants in the territories invaded by Italian-Slavic community and then disappeared without a trace. In addition, the estimated number of victims found in sinkholes found (at least 67), together with those of Italians who died in the gulag di Tito, and the reports of other killings can reach approximately the same amount, which must therefore be regarded as the most likely.
exiles were about 350,000, and 50,000 Italians who spent many years in concentration camps of Yugoslavia: Borovnica, Skofja Loka Osseh, and still Stara Gradiska, Siska, and then Goh Otok, Isola Calva. Some remained there until the sixties. Among Italians imprisoned in gulag di Tito, some were survivors of German concentration camps and, by their testimony, the common fields were much worse than the Nazis. Italians deported in 5000 on Goli Otok, 4,000 died.
After all these events, for 50 years fell a deliberate silence about what had happened. The exiles were marginalized and forgotten, as well as their history. The scholar Gianni Oliva in his book "Foibe" wrote: "Sixty years on from the events of sinkholes and infoibati are still excluded from a massacre denied collective conscience of the nation [...]. Italy by Law 92/2004 has recognized and established February 10 as "Day of Remembrance" in memory of victims of sinkholes and the exiles from Istria, Dalmatia and Giuliani. The purpose of the Act was to restore the dignity and recognition, not for many years, who was tragically killed, but also to all the survivors who were forced to flee their homes to escape the massacres in order to maintain its identity as a Italian. "
This memory continues to be, unfortunately, still opposed by those who, quite absurdly, deny or justify what happened. Therefore, before such events, and the applicants and attempts to hide wrong, it is a moral imperative Foibe and the memory of the Exodus.
His memory should belong to the collective heritage of the Italian nation, without distinction of party or political beliefs.
E 'an act of justice to the dead and the refugees, but also a warning to us all, because what happened in the past may happen again in the future.

Cave and the program of extermination of Lombard ITALIAN

The figure of Vasa Cubrilovic and his two guides to ethnic cleansing, conclusively demonstrates the fallacy of the arguments of those who still deny, minimize or justify genocide in Italian Venezia Giulia and Dalmatia, made by Communists di Tito.
4) la costituzione di reparti para-militari di civili armati, tratti dall’etnia dominante and sent to the region in order to terrorize and harass the locals
5) carrying out massacres, mass arrests and deportations in order to create a "psychosis of the evacuation" (this is the expression used by Cubrilovic) and induce "etnodiversi" to leave.
6) the whole operation had to be well planned and organized from above by the government and the staff, and with the help not only the army and police, but even other bodies, such as, for example, trade unions.

Cubrilovic then in 1944 he wrote his second memorandum, titled "The problem of minorities in the new Yugoslavia "[u novoj Manjinski problem Yugoslavia]. It took over the substance of the first floor, while the main difference is that it was no longer facing the Albanians, but towards all minorities jugo non-slave territories that were incorporated in the new socialist republic.
Cubrilovic expressed himself very clearly on the Italians of Dalmatia, Istria, Trieste and Gorizia, which were all driven to conquer not only ethnically and politically these territories. He formulated the expression of their "ethnic conquest" through the expulsion of the Italians followed by colonization Slavic. This came to write that the Serbian Communist Yugoslavia was authorized by the "right winner" in Italy is obliged to take back his countrymen of Dalmatia and Istria. The
Cubrilovic, increased from Serbian nationalism to communism Tito, Tito became minister and his personal friend, and thus could be of the greatest architects of the many operations of "ethnic cleansing" carried out by communist Yugoslavia. They affect not only the Venezia Giulia and Dalmatia, that the Italians, but also Carinthia (German), the "triangle Hungarian (Magyar), and Dobruja (Bulgaria).
The role of this individual in such operations pulizia etnica risulta provato da una serie di fattori decisivi.
-il ruolo di ministro;
L’esistenza del piano orchestrato da Cubrilovic, ben prima dell’inizio della seconda guerra mondiale, e destinato in origine ad essere applicato contro gli Albanesi, è un’ulteriore evidence of how the events of 1943-1945 in Venezia Giulia can be understood only as an ethnic cleansing orchestrated from above by Titus himself, on the basis of a precise plan.
This dictatorship was with socialist and nationalist, and worked his totalitarian repression in a two directions: toward political opponents on the one hand, towards the ethnic "foreign" other. It was thus a real massacre of ideological enemies, and with the mass expulsions of those who were not considered to be Yugo-Slavs.
