Once Upon a Time in Italy, a province called Terra di Lavoro. How says Wikipedia, "is a historical and geographical region linked to Campania, resulting now divided between the political-administrative regions of Lazio, Campania and Molise. The name Leboriae, caused by Earth Laboris for a certain period of history had replaced the name in Campania, in use since the fifth century BC The name Leboriae is documented in the work by Pliny the Elder Naturalis Historia. On a document of dubious originality, dating back to 1092, was found suitable for the first time the name Earth Laboris. Turning to more recent times we, the unification of Italy, in 1861 the province of Terra di Lavoro was one of the largest provinces of Italy. It included the vast areas of fertile districts of Gaeta and Sora , all part of 'Agro Nolan as falling in the current province of Naples, part of the provinces of Benevento, Avellino, Isernia, and even the' entire territory of the province of Caserta. 
In 1927 the province of Terra di Lavoro was dissolved: the municipalities already belonged to the Lazio district of Sora merged into the new province of Frosinone, institutes nello stesso anno. Nel 1934 fu istituita la provincia di Littoria (ora Latina), che raggruppò gli attuali comuni laziali facenti parte dell'allora Circondario di Gaeta. I comuni campani, facenti parte dell'antica provincia di Terra di Lavoro, nel 1945 andarono a formare la neo costituita provincia di Caserta. Gli altri comuni, che già orbitavano attorno alle città di Benevento, Avellino, Isernia erano confluiti nelle rispettive province.
Di uno di quei comuni del Lazio, dell'antica provincia di Terra di Lavoro, erano originari i miei genitori, che lo avevano abbandonato tra la fine del 1943 e i primi giorni del '44, assieme alle loro famiglie and groups of related families or friends, due to the forced displacement of entire civilian population orbiting in the area surrounding the Abbey of Montecassino. Anglo Americans had decided to bomb the mountain from the top to the base, in an attempt to free it from the presence of German forces that were opposing a strong resistance to the advancing Allied army Rome. After the war, there was the return of most displaced persons, except the family of my nonni materni che decisero di rimanere nella campagna del cremonese, iniziandovi una nuova vita, non priva di avventure e disavventure.
